Dr. Andrea Aliaga-Leyton, DVM

Veterinarian

I always was the child rescuing animals, trying to convince my parents that we could have more pets.  Following my passion for all animals and love of Medicine, I decided to study Veterinary Medicine, graduating with honours.

After practicing at a small animal clinic for 3.5 years in South America, arrived in Canada in 2005 to pursue more studies. In 2008 I graduated from University of Guelph, OVC, with a Master of Science in Population Medicine, proceeding to validate my DVM degree in North America and call Canada my home.

I started working as a locum for several clinics, and as I have a passion to help and volunteer as well, was able to work for a non-profit low-income clinic initially. I loved the variety of different cases arriving each day, and making a difference for them and their families.  I joined Manitou Animal Hospital, as wanted to be closer to my family in this area.

With a special interest in ultrasound, I am currently pursuing more training in this area, with my next goal to obtain more training in dentistry. I do though enjoy practicing preventive medicine and surgery. I am fluent in both English and Spanish.

I have two dogs and one cat currently, and have had bunnies, hamsters and chickens as pets. I enjoy knitting, crocheting, hiking, swimming, camping, biking, jogging, and traveling to see family abroad. I love gathering with friends
