July is Pet Fire Prevention Month

July 15th is Nation Pet Fire Safety Month and has been since 2008. Use this as a reminder that we should be on top of making sure that we are keeping our pets safe from fires and able to get them out of harm’s way.

As marijuana becomes more available, we have seen more poisoning in our clinic. We need to be more careful about having it around our pets. Recreational “pot” is a moderate to severe toxic to our pets.

As the month of June is National Blood Donor Month, it might be interesting to know that there is a blood donor spot for your dog very close at the University of Guelph.

I love fireworks, but my dog hates them. She tries to climb onto your head while shaking like a leaf. We do what we can to try to help her get through them and relax, and there are many things that you can do as well for your pets.
