I decided to become a veterinary technician when my first cat became sick. I wanted to not only help pets feel better but wanted to make sure I could take care of their human family too. I joined the Manitou family on June 27, 1995. As a veterinary technician, my job changes all day. It's hard to pick what part of this job interests me the most, although I do like working directly with clients. I love all the "cuddly" parts of the job - even sometimes when the pets don't appreciate it. I have been with the Manitou team for over 20 years, and I still love coming to work every day! I love working one-on-one with clients to improve and maintain their pet's health. I love swapping stories with clients about the crazy and cute things our pets do.
My favourite thing about the clinic is the family-friendly atmosphere we have. We do care not just for your pet, but the human clients too! My first pet was a beautiful Border Collie-Collie named Sparky. Since then, I have had two Border Collies, a Shetland Sheepdog, a Pomeranian mix, cats, snakes, lizards, critters, but my latest addition is a Rottweiler puppy! A fun fact about me is that I love to sing along with the radio. Very rarely I know all the words, so I make up my own, or hum loudly!
With recent changes to restrictions on businesses, we are pleased to advise that effective May 15, 2020 some restrictions on veterinary practices have been lifted. Based on these changes, below are some important updates to our operating policies.
1. WE CAN NOW SEE ALL CASES BY APPOINTMENT ONLY
This includes vaccines, wellness exams, blood work, heartworm testing, spays and neuters, dental services, and more!
2. SAFETY MEASURES TO KEEP EVERYONE SAFE
Continue our "closed waiting room" policy to protect our clients and staff. When you arrive, please remain outside the hospital and use your cell phone to call 519-893-1360. We will take a history of your pet's health and discuss any concerns. A staff member will then meet you outside to bring your pet into the hospital for an examination. The Veterinarian will call you to discuss the recommended treatment plan. After your appointment, a staff member will return your pet to you outside, and take care of any needed medications and payment.
Continue the use of credit cards as the preferred payment method.
Continue with curbside pickup of food and medication. We are asking that all food and medications are pre-paid at the time of ordering it. If your food is not prepaid, we unfortunately cannot hold it for you for longer than 1 day at this time. If you are paying Debit, we will be allowing one client at a time to enter the clinic to pay. Currently, we prefer not to take cash.
Our online store is available to have your order delivered directly to your home. To place an order through our online store, visit our website and click on "Online Store".
3. ONLINE CONSULTATIONS ARE AVAILABLE
If you wish to connect with a veterinarian via message, phone or video, visit our website and follow the "Online Consultation" link.
