When I was young, I wanted to be a veterinarian. However, after some research, I found that I didn’t want to go to school for the length of schooling required. Later on, I learned about the role of an Animal Health Technician (the previous name of a Registered Veterinary Technician) and realized it was a perfect fit for me. The role would allow me to do all the things I enjoyed – help pets, utilize my organizational skills and talk to people (something that fits me to a tee). I finished college at Centralia on a Friday and started my new job at this hospital the following Monday in April 1988. I enjoy almost all things related to veterinary medicine, but tend to gravitate particularly towards client education, uses for medication, and parasites.

My favourite part of my job is the people – both the staff that I work with and the clients who come in with their furry family members. Each day is different, each day can be a challenge, but overall, that is what makes the experience great. My first pet as an adult was Carter – a great Beagle/Pit Bull, and despite having multiple health issues, he lived to be 17-years-old. He had a gentle soul and was great with everyone. A “fun fact” about me is that I am full of useless information. Ask me about anything and most likely, I will have some weird fact to go with it. I am sure that as I learn new things, old information just falls out the other side.
